"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"
Isaiah 43:19, ESV
Squirrel's resolutions for a joyful 2026:
Life is short, so make sure to stop and smell the roses. And the sticks. Each blade of grass. Signposts. Street corners. Rear ends of unsuspecting guests...
Spend even longer hours enjoying sunbeams.
Don't sweat the small stuff. When Mom steps on my toe and I cry out, once I see a treat, all will be forgotten like it never happened.
Forgive easily. See above.
Take more naps. Offer no excuse for resting.
When naps are done, play hard. Tennis balls and other things that bring joy are worth getting excited for.
Greet each guest with exuberance. Every person deserves to feel welcome and wanted. And wholly accosted.
Enjoy yummy treats without guilt. Who doesn't love frozen yogurt?!
Wake up each morning with joy and energy, feeling well-rested.
Make sure I sit my big furry butt in Mom's lap whenever she's sad. It's good to be there for friends.
Huh, come to think of it, I already do all of those things. Maybe my New Year's Resolution is to make sure Mom follows my lead.
Sincerely,
Squirrel
